This is from somebody's last day at Bedford. I can't remember exactly who, but I think it was Stacey's. If I'm right, then she's about to take off for six months couch-surfing through South America. Ever since I heard her plan I've admired her guts. She worked two jobs and saved for two years so she could drop everything and travel and write. Every day I wish I had that courage, even now that people say that about me, even though my move is just to another American city. That admiration is not why I love this picture, though.
I love it because it just sums up so well the closeness we had working in that office. We all just decided to take a long lunch this day because Stacey (I think?) was leaving and it was worth it.
Only three people in this photo still work at Bedford, and while I'm sure the newer folks feel what's in this picture, I no longer do. And while I am sad that that newness is gone for me, I'm happy that it's still there and kicking for someone.
Also, I should point out that the shirt I'm wearing I got in a thrift shop, and I still wear to this day, five years later. Cheers to that staying power. Thrift purchase of the decade for me, for sure.
