So in 2009 my sister had an in at the New York Toy Fair and was able to get me a pass. This might sound like a Comic Con for toys - a convention for aficionados to meet and preview new stuff - but it wasn't. It was more like the E3 of toys, where industry folks and people with stores showed up to see the newest wares and make orders. And holy crap was there some amazing stuff.
In addition to my favorite from Watchmen and Final Fantasy there was just display after display of fantastic figurines. There were some edutainment toys as well, and, to my surprise, no shortage of booths featuring miniatures of the kind I used to play with that I was sure kids didn't care about anymore. Little zoo figures, and dinosaurs. I loved it all.
