This is Glenn. He plays in a band with his sister Emily called Dark North. To me, that isn't even the coolest thing they do. This picture was taken in their apartment during one of the home shows they throw every once in a while, and since they have fantastic taste the bands are always great. Two of my favorite bands from 2013, Wild Leaves and Streets of Laredo, I heard for the first time in their parlor. I love small shows, and music simply does not get closer and more intimate than sitting with 50 strangers in someone's packed living room listening to a group that most of you had never heard before. Sofar Sounds, eat your heart out.
Astute observers will notice that this was the day after Christine's wedding. I almost didn't go to this show because, at 30, I'm pretty much hung over for the entire day after weddings. As always, though, I was really glad that I went.
Aside: I think this is the show where several people asked me if I was a musician, too. Weird.
